Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, and Donegal TD, Charlie McConalogue today welcomed the announcement by Minister for Health Donnelly of the approval of the Health Service Executive’s Capital Plan for Donegal for 2022, which outlines the strategic priorities for the Health Investment Programme and commits over €23m in funding for County Donegal.
Commenting on the announcement, Minister McConalogue said “I welcome the announcement of €23m for Donegal’s healthcare projects right throughout the County for 2022. Continued investment in our health care is essential and this funding is being directed at primary health care services and community services. Included in the funding for 2022 is €12m for an 80 bed unit to replace the Shiel and the Rock in Ballyshannon, €1.8m for the refurbishment of Cardonagh Community Hospital, €1.33m for refurbishment of Buncrana CNU, €1.4m for the new Newtowncunnigham Primary Care Centre and supports for St Joseph’s Hospital and LUH.”
The 2022 Capital Plan reiterates the Government’s commitment to investing in our health and social care service. The plan builds on the Government’s core priorities of access, affordability and quality in healthcare by supporting the delivery of strategic reform, a move towards better care in the community and building on the learnings and innovative changes during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This investment will enable the HSE to progress projects in 2022, including many important projects throughout County Donegal.
