Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Donegal T.D., Charlie McConalogue, and Cllr Rena Donaghey, met with the team at the newly developed Buncrana Primary Care Centre recently to discuss progress.
The new development will bring many health care services together in one new state-of-the-art centre for Inishowen.
The project is progressing very well with opening and services delivery expected in the coming months.
Commenting on the visit to the centre, Minister McConalogue said “It is fantastic to see the work that has gone into this centre by all the team involved and my thanks to all the team and to Cllr Donaghey for their work on delivering this project. This centre will be a game changer for Buncrana and for all of Inishowen in delivery of care services.”
Commenting, Cllr. Rena Donaghey said “the people of Buncrana and Inishowen were delighted when the green light for planning permission was granted for a new State of the Art Primary Care Centre on Maginn Avenue. Construction began by local man Shay McCallion from the McCallion Group, during the Summer of 2020, funded by the HSE, and was completed on schedule. Spread across three storeys, underground car parking facilities are also included in the 56,500sq ft. area, which can house 126 staff. Soon this Centre, with an exceptional finish, will be opened to the public. The Centre has provided much-needed work for locals and for businesses locally, particularly during COVID. It will ensure that health services which people need to avail of, on a regular basis are available in one location and will be of great service into the future for people of Buncrana and Inishowen. Currently these services are located at many separate locations including as far away as Letterkenny.”
